What’s one highlight from your first semester of college?

One highlight from my first semester of college was performing in my first college football halftime show with Marching Mizzou!

What do you wish you’d known when you started college?

Before I had started college, I wish I had been more prepared with the level of responsibility that I would be taking on outside of the class. From doing all of my laundry to figuring out what I was going to eat every day and what time I’d need to go to bed, I found myself very overwhelmed and struggling with so much freedom. Challenging myself to be responsible for everything in my life is something I wished I had taken on earlier.

What do you like about advising first and second year students?

I love helping students discover their passion (especially when they, like me, learn something very unexpected about their goals in the process). I also really enjoy academic planning with students. It honestly feels like a puzzle we solve together by trying to fit all the pieces into eight semesters. Not to mention, I learn so much from students I work with that I didn’t know (about their fields, Loyola, of even Chicago).

What’s your favorite thing about Loyola?

My favorite thing about Loyola is being able to be by the lake, even when it’s just walking to and from my car. Though, I may have a different answer from January through March.

What’s your favorite thing about Chicago?

I love how, if you’re willing to get there, Chicago can offer something for everyone. There is a space for every person, if you are just willing to seek it out.

Also, the Harold Washington library. If you’ve never been, you should rectify that immediately.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I love playing board games and watching movies with my kids. I’m also an avid reader and try to finish at least 70 books a year! At any given time, I may be reading/listening to three different books to be sure I’ve got car entertainment and non-fiction titles in the mix.
