What’s one highlight from your first year of college?

Because I was really shy, it was hard to make friends. Two people on my floor remembered my birthday that November and gave me a gift, and that’s when I really started feeling like I had friends.

What do you wish you’d known in your first year of college?

I wish I’d known how to request disability accommodations. I did everything on my own, and it was hard, sometimes. I didn’t even know we had an office that did that!

What do you like about advising first and second year students?

I love the opportunity to see students grow right from the beginning. We’re lucky to be able to help them discover how to navigate their path.

What’s your favorite thing about Loyola?

Two things:

1. I love the lake! My favorite place on campus is anywhere outside that I can watch the waves come into the shore.

2. I was drawn to Loyola by the focus on social justice. Even as a kid, I wanted to help make the world a better place, so working someplace that cares so much about that is really special for me.

What’s your favorite thing about Chicago?

I love learning about Chicago. I took a class one summer on the Geography of Chicago, and I’ve read a lot about Chicago. I love looking at old maps of the city. I also love thinking about how people move around the city, so if you need to know how to get somewhere on the CTA, I will probably have an answer for you.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like hanging out with my kiddo. Sometimes, we play Minecraft together. Other times, I’ll knit while he and my wife play video games together. I also really enjoy a wide variety of music, so going to concerts is another thing I love to do. When I’m at home, it’s not uncommon to find me reading a Kindle book on my phone or practicing German on Duolingo.
