What’s one highlight from your first semester of college? |
I moved out of state for college and so it was very exciting to explore a different city. I particularly loved checking out music venues and going to concerts for indie artists that are now huge! I feel like Minneapolis, MN has such a great music scene. |
What do you wish you’d known when you started college? |
I wish I had known that there is no shame in asking for help. When I first started college, I felt immense self-pressure to figure everything out on my own and mistakenly believed that people would frown upon me if I needed help. So, I would often refuse to raise my hand in class when the material was confusing and did not attend office hours because I felt embarrassed about needing help. There is never any shame in asking for help and no one is thinking less of you for needing support! |
What do you like about advising first and second year students? |
I really enjoy connecting with students and serving as an additional support system on campus. I feel like the first two years of college can be challenging due to adjusting to a new environment and expectations and sometimes this can make students feel nervous. As an academic advisor I enjoy helping students get connected to resources on campus and reminding them that there is no shame in asking for help. I feel that helping students understand the latter is crucial and strengthening that skill early on in their career is important. |
What’s your favorite thing about Loyola? |
I love being so close to the lake and taking strolls when it is nice outside. It is so exciting to see students also enjoying the view alongside their friends. |
What’s your favorite thing about Chicago? |
My favorite thing about Chicago has to be all the museums we have access to here. I absolutely love museums, and I take advantage of the free admission days that are offered throughout the year. |
What do you like to do in your spare time? |
I love watching movies and logging in my reviews on Letterboxd. It helps me get ready for the awards season and know which movies I want to root for during that time. I enjoy reading and my current favorite genres include magical realism, romance, and horror. I also enjoy going on walks around my neighborhood and exploring new shops in the city! |
