What are some of your interests outside the Gannon Scholars program?

I love music, especially live music, and I love going to concerts with friends. I also love reading in my free time. I have done taekwondo for over seven years.

Why is the mission of the Gannon Scholars important to you?

The mission is important to me because social change is needed in society; it is our future at stake. We will make waves as the leaders of social change while also giving young girls role models and leaders to look up too as they grow up.

What are you interested in researching? Why?

I am interested in code switching of queer teenagers and young adults, specifically with regard to the labels people use to describe themselves. Being a queer teenager myself, I noticed how I would change how I described myself depending on who I am with and where I am. This made me interested in the extent to which this happens with other LGBTQ people around my age and any similarities in the situations in which it happens.
