Gabrielle Buckley appointed to the ABA’s Commission on Women in the Profession
Gabrielle M. Buckley, Director of the Gannon Center for Women and Leadership at Loyola University Chicago, has been appointed by the President of the American Bar Association (ABA) to serve on the ABA’s 12-member Commission on Women in the Profession. The Commission’s mission is to secure the full and equal participation of women in the legal profession and the justice system. The Commission, initially chaired by Hillary Rodham Clinton in 1987, continues to engage in groundbreaking research and programming to identify and implement strategies to eliminate bias in the profession. It develops policies relating to women and the rule of law for the ABA, and empowers women and men to work for gender equality in the workplace. Ms. Buckley is a former Chair of the ABA’s Section of International Law and serves as its representative in the ABA House of Delegates.
“I’m honored to serve on this remarkable Commission that has done so much to further the careers of women and improve the legal profession overall. I look forward especially to expanding its global impact.”
Prior to joining Loyola University in 2018, Ms. Buckley was a Shareholder with Vedder Price P.C. and practiced law with other large firms in Chicago and New York. She also served as Antitrust Counsel for Borg-Warner Corporation.
