Jessica L. Robinson is an artist, scholar and organizer from the Midwest with roots in Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO.  Jessica comes to the Gannon Center with an expertise in community engaged scholarship, a background in university research and teaching, in addition to experience working in non profit organizations who serve underrepresented communities. In her role at the Gannon Center, she applies values of creativity, rigor and care to create an enriched experience for scholars. 

 

Jessica credits her people-centered approach to her experience organizing with the collective, SOLHOT (Saving Lives, Hear Our Truths) which holds Black girlhood as an organizing construct to dream and create conditions for a world worth living. 

 

She holds a B.S. in Community Health, M.A in Social Foundations of Education and PhD in Media and Cinema Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She enjoys making music and other art as well as spending time with her daughter, family and friends.
