Alum Amber Hewitt Appointed Washington D.C. Chief Equity Officer

Dr. Amber Hewitt

Amber Hewitt, alum of LUC's Counseling Psychology PhD program (2013), has been appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser as Washington D. C.'s first Chief Equity Officer. Dr. Hewitt will lead the city's Office of Racial Equity, aimed at eliminating racial disparities and promoting racial justice.

Prior to this position, Dr. Hewitt served as the Director of Health Equity at Families USA, a national consumer health advocacy organization. Dr. Hewitt also served as an American Psychological Association health policy fellow where she worked with Senator Corey Booker (D-N.J.). She began her career in a tenure-track faculty position at the University of Akron.
