Alum Dorothy Loren Receives SPP Diversity Research Grant

Graduate School alum Dorothy Loren, PhD (Psychology, 2020) has received a Diversity Research Grant from the Society of Pediatric Psychology, as announced by Dr. Elvin Thomaseo Burton of The University of Tennessee Health Science Center: "The SPP Diversity Research Grant is intended to highlight the importance of diversity in pediatric psychology research and practice by making funds available to conduct research featuring important diversity-related variables (e.g. race/ethnicity, gender, culture, sexual orientation, language differences, socioeconomic status, etc.). Dr. Loren's project, Development and Validation of a Screening Measure to Promote Equitable Stepped Care in the Treatment of Pediatric Needle Fear, is especially timely and relevant considering the current conversation regarding equitable vaccination." The award allows Dr. Loren to continue her research as she works as a post-doctoral fellow at Seattle Children's Hospital and is mentored by Dr. Joanna Patten and Dr. Megan McMurtry.
