About

Susan is a Professor in the School of Social Work and was appointed Associate Dean in the Graduate School in February of 2021. Having grown up in New York, she came to Chicago to attend Northwestern University where she earned a BS in Education. She then went on to get her MA and Ph.D. from the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. Susan teaches social policy and research in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Work and in Women’s Studies/Gender Studies, where she is an Associate Faculty member. Her research focuses on the needs and service use of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and abuse.  She has been involved in research on homelessness for many years as well. Susan loves to read fiction, particularly fantasy novels, in her free time and also enjoys going for long walks and doing yoga.
