Update on Surveillance Testing Protocols (Students)

As Loyola University Chicago continues to move toward a full reopening of campus, we are pleased to announce a change to our testing policy for fully vaccinated members of our community. Beginning Sunday, May 23, vaccinated Loyolans will no longer be required to participate in COVID-19 surveillance testing. This decision is based on the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH).
As you know, it is required that all students be fully vaccinated before the start of the fall semester. To verify your vaccination status, you must also upload your vaccine card. Thank you to the more than 3,000 Ramblers who have already completed this process. If you have received your full vaccine dose or series and your vaccine record has been uploaded and approved by the University, you do not need to continue reading this message.
If you have been fully vaccinated but have not yet submitted your vaccine card, it is critical that you do so as soon as possible. A submitted and approved vaccine card is our only way to verify that you have received the vaccine and thus to consider you exempt from the testing requirement. Until your vaccine record has been uploaded and approved, if you plan to be on campus, you will need to test. Please be assured that all submitted health records are secure and kept in strict confidence.

After your vaccine record has been approved, and two weeks have passed after your final dose, the vaccine status bar on your Health App will turn green. Please do not call the Wellness Center to confirm your vaccine record was verified.
If you have not been fully vaccinated, have been granted a medical or religious exemption, or have not uploaded your vaccination card to the Loyola Health app by May 23, you will still be required to participate in surveillance testing this summer if you are on campus. By the start of the fall semester, all students must have their vaccine record uploaded or have an approved medical or religious exemption. Our current compliance policy will continue to apply to those who are required to test.
On Monday, May 24, Loyola will also be transitioning its SHIELD testing program from EPIC to Point and Click (PnC), a more sophisticated patient portal. For those still participating in SHIELD testing, you will need to create a new PnC account. To do so, register at the website below using the URL and Agency Code.

After that information is submitted, you will be sent a verification code to enter and confirm your identity. Once enrolled, individuals can select a time and date to test. Doing so creates a QR code in your patient account. Please bring a screenshot/printout of that QR code to your appointment. If you need assistance creating an account, call SHIELD's support line at 217-265-6059; the line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
