Additional Updates on Loyola Surveillance Testing

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Ahead of the break, we wanted to share additional updates and details regarding Loyola University Chicago’s COVID-19 surveillance testing program, which we are busy setting up in anticipation of the spring semester.
If you signed the e-consent form, in the coming weeks, you should receive an email from MySHIELD to set up your patient account. The email will be sent from NO-REPLY@CARLE.COM, and the subject line will read “MYSHIELD ILLINOIS ACTIVATION LETTER.” The email will include an activation code that does expire, so please be sure to open this email and activate your MySHIELD account in a timely manner.
When you create your account, you will be asked to verify your zip code. The zip code provided to MySHIELD is your most recent local address on file. If you are unsure of which zip code you should enter, please check your LOCUS account (students) or Lawson Self-Service account (faculty and staff).
After registering your MySHIELD account, we recommend downloading the MyChart app to your phone for easy access to scheduling and to your test results. In MyChart, when selecting the organization, you should select SHIELD Illinois.
If you are planning to come to campus at any point this spring, you must complete your patient account to participate in the required surveillance testing. If you do not plan on coming to campus at any point this spring, you can disregard the MySHIELD message since you are not required to participate in surveillance testing.
COVID-19 surveillance testing will begin on Monday, January 11. Campus testing sites have been finalized and are posted to the On-Campus Testing Page. Locations include:
Lake Shore Campus
- Damen Student Center Room 244 (Sr. Jean Room)
- Mundelein Auditorium Room 140
Health Sciences Campus
- Cuneo Center 120 – Faculty Dining room
Water Tower Campus
- Maguire Hall 160
More information on hours of operation and scheduling appointments is forthcoming.
We expect our COVID-19 surveillance test results will be delivered to students, faculty, and staff within 24 hours. However, there might be a slight delay for the first few weeks of testing. We appreciate your patience as we get operations up and running.
