Public Service Loan Forgiveness

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is a federal program designed to reduce the burden of student loan debt for people who work in public service. Loyola University is considered a public service employer for the purposes of these programs.

The U.S. Department of Education announced a temporary change to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program rules under the limited PSLF waiver. Now, for a limited time, borrowers may get credit for past periods of repayment that normally would not qualify for PSLF. This includes borrowers with Federal Family Education Loan Program loans who consolidate into the Direct Loan Program by October 31, 2022. You can learn more information by visiting the Public Student Loan Forgiveness website

It is recommended that you start with the Federal Student Aid’s PSLF Help Tool that provides individualized information about your eligibility for PSLF.
