Personal paid time off (i.e. vacation accrual and/or personal days) will be required for additional time off scheduled on the following dates:

  • Monday, December 23
  • Thursday, January 2
  • Friday, January 3

We are heartened each year by the number of faculty and staff members who express their appreciation for this gift of time that allows space for reflection and rejuvenation, which is important to our Loyola community commitment to cura personalis.

As in previous years, we know that some staff members will be needed on campus to provide support during this week-long closure. To those employees, thank you for your commitment. Please know that your department managers will work directly with you to ensure that you are able to take advantage of this gifted time 45 days before or after the closure. We are also asking all department heads to prepare plans for their area to ensure that critical business functions continue during this week and are handled remotely, if possible.

Additionally, it is our pleasure to invite you to the Annual University Christmas Reception for faculty, staff, and retirees. We will celebrate on Thursday, December 19, from 2–4:30 p.m. in the Damen Student Center on our Lake Shore Campus.

The Christmas Reception provides an opportunity to mingle with fellow Loyolans through fellowship under the University’s beautiful Christmas tree while enjoying food, drink, and entertainment. In addition, University Staff Council will again host their annual holiday spirit contest. Learn more online.

Specific details regarding this upcoming event, including shuttle service to and from the Lake Shore Campus from the Water Tower and Health Sciences campuses is available online.

We hope that this demonstrates our appreciation for the work that you do and our commitment to the well-being of all our faculty and staff.

Sincerely,

Jo Ann Rooney, JD, LLM, EdD
