November 2018 Human Resources Updates

Dear Faculty and Staff,
Human Resources is pleased to provide updates and announce new programs and services for our Loyola community. Please review the information below to learn more about Loyola’s upcoming vacation payout schedule, including November’s Open Enrollment season, and how to use the new Annual Staff Performance Evaluation form as part of the performance management process.
Reminder about Vacation Payout on November 16
As announced in September, the revised staff vacation policy will become effective on December 23. Beginning with the first paycheck in January 2019, the maximum vacation accrual will be 1X the annual accrual (currently, employees can carry a balance of up to 2X the annual accrual). In order to transition to this new maximum, employees carrying accrued vacation above this 1X limit (as of November 10), will be paid out any unused vacation time above the new accrual limit plus the equivalent of five pay periods on the November 16 paycheck.
2019 Benefits Open Enrollment: November 1–21
The 2019 Benefits Open Enrollment period is now open through November 21. This is your annual opportunity to review and make changes to your benefits. Detailed information summarizing benefit plans and changes is included in the 2019 Benefits Highlights Booklet or by consulting Alex, your personalized online and interactive benefits counselor.
On-Campus Biometric Screenings and Free Flu Shots
Additional opportunities to receive biometric screenings on campus are available on the following days from 7:30 a.m.–12 p.m.:
  • Wednesday, November 7: Damen Student Center, MPR North
  • Tuesday, November 13: Stritch School of Medicine, Room 150
  • Wednesday, November 14: Lewis Towers, Regents Hall
During the Damen Student Center and Lewis Towers screenings, all faculty and staff are invited to walk in and receive flu shots; no appointment is necessary.
If you are unable to be on campus for your flu shot, please remember that for members who are enrolled in our Blue Cross Blue Shield medical insurance, flu shots are available at no out-of-pocket cost at any in-network provider office or in-network clinic. Be sure to confirm that the pharmacy accepts your Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage before you get your vaccination.
Important note: Flu shots are covered under your medical plan, not your pharmacy benefit. You must present your Blue Cross Blue Shield medical card to receive this benefit.
NEW: Staff Performance Evaluation Form
Human Resources is excited to announce that the revised Annual Staff Performance Evaluation form is live and ready for use online. In the spirit of continued improvement and collaboration, the form provides supervisors and staff members an opportunity to facilitate discussion of employee performance as they review and plan for the achievement of desired personal and professional development goals. This required step in the performance management cycle helps supervisors and employees recognize strong behavior and performance in addition to recognizing development opportunities. Human Resources will partner with supervisors throughout the annual evaluation period to assist staff members with timely completion, including compliance tracking and reporting. Questions? Important Note: SSOM staff will continue to use the current online evaluation form that is available via the Portal for this year.
EMERGE—Professional and Personal Development
Space is still available for EMERGE classes this month. The program offers personal, professional, and wellness seminars. Whether you are in a leadership role or are a member of a team, you will find a program in which you can increase your knowledge and strengthen your skills. Visit the EMERGE site for details on the following courses:
