October 2020 Human Resources Updates

October 8, 2020

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Human Resources is pleased to provide updates and announce upcoming programs and services for our Loyola University Chicago community. Please review the information below to learn more about the 2021 Benefits Open Enrollment period and how you can participate in a number of webinars this month on topics like Open Enrollment, retirement income planning, and understanding Medicare.

2021 Benefits Open Enrollment
The Open Enrollment period for 2021 benefit elections will take place through Employee Self-Service beginning November 2 and ending November 13. This is your annual opportunity to review and make changes to your benefits. During Open Enrollment, you can:

  • Enroll in or change your medical, dental, or vision plan options
  • Enroll or unenroll dependents
  • Enroll or reenroll in the Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) if enrolling in PPO 1 or PPO 2 medical plan, or the Limited FSA if enrolling in PPO 3 medical plan (re-enrollment in an FSA is required annually, but you can carry over up to $550 of your 2020 Health Care or Limited FSA into 2021)
  • Enroll or reenroll in the Dependent Care FSA

What's new for 2021? Loyola’s benefits offerings are not changing and premium rates are not increasing for 2021.

Additionally, for the health and safety of our faculty and staff members during the COVID-19 pandemic, flu shots and biometric screenings will NOT be offered on any of Loyola’s campuses this year. Alternate ways are available to obtain your flu shot with your Aetna medical insurance. Learn more here. With regards to the biometric screenings, we have decided to pause this annual wellness screening requirement for 2021. If you received the wellness rate for your medical premiums in 2020, you will continue to receive the wellness rate in 2021.
