Open Enrollment Reminder: Ending Friday, November 13

November 11, 2020

Dear Faculty and Staff,

This message is a reminder that the 2021 Benefits Open Enrollment period closes this Friday, November 13. Please take time before Friday to review your benefits, make changes, and re-enroll in flexible spending accounts. Even if you decide not to make any changes to your benefits for 2021, you should complete the online Open Enrollment process to avoid the Tobacco Premium and Spousal/LDA Premium. All benefits changes will take effect on January 1, 2021.

Detailed information summarizing benefit plans and monthly premium rates are included in the 2021 Benefits Highlights Brochure, or you can learn more by consulting ALEX (an interactive online tool designed to serve as your personalized benefits counselor). Additionally, if you were unable to join us for information sessions on October 27 or November 4, you can review a recording of the information session on demand at  LUC.edu/hr/openenrollment/.

How Do I Access Online Open Enrollment?
You can access Open Enrollment through the Employee Self-Service portal. For your reference, Employee Self-Service works best in Google Chrome or Safari.

Consider All Medical Plan Options
As previously announced, Loyola University Chicago will continue to offer three medical plans with no plan design changes in 2021. This means that monthly premium rates, deductible amounts, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, covered services, and pharmacy benefits will remain the same. You are encouraged to review the details of the three current medical plan options, especially PPO 3 HSA. Faculty and staff who select PPO 3 HSA in 2021 will receive supplemental funding—$600 for employee only or $1,200 for employee plus dependent(s)—as incentive money from Loyola that will be contributed to new and existing HSAs with your first paycheck in January.

Consult ALEX—Your Personalized Online Benefits Counselor
Don't forget to utilize ALEX—your personalized online benefits counselor—to help you better understand our competitive and comprehensive benefits. ALEX provides interactive assistance to help you determine which plans are the best fit for you and your family.

If you do nothing during Open Enrollment, you will automatically be re-enrolled in your benefits selections from the current year with two exceptions. Faculty and staff who wish to continue with flexible spending accounts (health care or dependent care) are required to re-enroll annually. In addition, if you do not complete the tobacco certification and the spousal/LDA acknowledgment questions (if applicable) presented in open enrollment, a higher medical premium will apply in 2021.

Thank you for your thoughtful review of this information. If you have questions regarding benefit offerings or open enrollment, please visit LUC.edu/hr/openenrollment/ or contact Human Resources at benefits@LUC.edu or 312-915-6175.

Sincerely,
