Reminder: Complete Your 2022 Open Enrollment

November 9, 2021

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Please take time before the end of Monday, November 15 to review your benefits, make changes, and re-enroll in flexible spending accounts. All Open Enrollment changes need to be completed in the Employee Self-Service portal by the end of Monday, November 15 in order to be effective January 1, 2022. Even if you decide not to make any changes to your benefits for 2022, you should complete the online Open Enrollment process in Employee Self-Service to avoid the Tobacco Premium and Spousal/LDA Premium.

Detailed information summarizing benefit plans and monthly premium rates are included in the 2022 Benefits Highlights Brochure, or you can learn more by consulting ALEX, an interactive online tool designed to serve as your personalized benefits counselor.

New Behavioral Health Support Resource Coming in 2022
In response to requests for additional behavioral resources expressed by some faculty and staff, and members of the Benefits Advisory Committee, a new supplemental behavioral health resource, First Stop Health, will be introduced in early 2022. This new benefit supplements existing behavioral health resources provided by the University through our medical insurance plan with Aetna and our Employee Assistance Provider (EAP). It will be available at no additional cost to you, will be separate from our medical plan, and will enable access to an expanded network of providers through virtual engagement. Please stay tuned, as additional information will be shared about this new behavioral health resource, First Stop Health, after the first of the year.

How do I access online Open Enrollment?
You can access Open Enrollment through the Employee Self-Service portal. For your reference, Employee Self-Service works best in Chrome or Safari.

Register for a 2022 Benefits Open Enrollment Information Session
Have questions about your benefits or 2022 Open Enrollment?  If yes, please consider attending an informative information session that will provide an overview of our benefits offerings. The one-hour webinar provides faculty and staff members with an opportunity to ask benefits-related questions following the presentation. If you would like to attend, please register via the below link:

If you were unable to join us for one of the four information sessions held, you can review the slide deck from the information session at LUC.edu/hr/openenrollment

As a reminder, if you do nothing during Open Enrollment, you will automatically be re-enrolled in your benefits selections from the current year with two exceptions. Faculty and staff who wish to continue with flexible spending accounts (health care or dependent care) are required to re-enroll annually. In addition, if you do not complete the tobacco certification and the spousal/LDA acknowledgment questions (if applicable) presented in open enrollment, a higher medical premium will apply in 2022.

Thank you for your thoughtful review of this information. If you have questions regarding benefit offerings or open enrollment, please visit LUC.edu/hr/openenrollment or contact Human Resources at benefits@LUC.edu or 312-915-6175.

Sincerely,
