September 2018 Human Resources Updates

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Human Resources is pleased to provide updates and announce new programs and services for our Loyola community. Please review the information below to learn more about Loyola’s upcoming Open Enrollment 2019 season, including details available via Alex, Loyola’s personalized benefits counselor, regarding benefit offerings. As you consider participating in personal and professional development opportunities, we also are including helpful information about EMERGE classes taking place throughout September and beyond.

Open Enrollment 2019
Open Enrollment 2019 will take place November 1–21. This is your annual opportunity to review, change, and enroll yourself and your family in Loyola’s benefit options for 2019. Detailed information, including summaries of benefit plan changes, is available on the Open Enrollment 2019 website.

NEW—PPO 3 Health Savings Account (HSA) Medical Plan Option
As you prepare for Open Enrollment 2019, Human Resources encourages you to review the new PPO 3 HSA Medical Plan Option that will be available January 1, 2019. The PPO 3 HSA plan contains a variety of benefits, including:
  • lower monthly premiums;
  • an opportunity to receive incentive money from Loyola in 2019;
  • the ability to contribute money on a pretax basis to your HSA, which includes the options of either utilizing the fund for eligible health care expenses incurred during the calendar year or saving your money for future health care expenses;
  • and critical illness and accident insurance employee coverage.
Learn from Alex® Online
In preparation for the upcoming benefit enrollment season, please consider reviewing available medical benefit offerings via Alex, your personalized benefits counselor. Alex is an interactive online tool designed to help you better understand Loyola’s competitive and comprehensive benefit offerings, including the new PPO 3 HSA plan. Reviewing Alex will help you choose the best benefit offerings for you and your covered dependents. Alex is accessible online from your computer, tablet, and smartphone.

Learn in Person at Open Enrollment Benefit Fairs
At information sessions and benefit fairs throughout October, benefits representatives will provide detailed information about new and existing benefits. This includes information regarding the tobacco and spousal coverage premiums, and the new HSA that is available to faculty and staff who enroll in the PPO 3 HSA medical plan for 2019. Earn points toward quarterly wellness rewards when you attend an information session and/or benefit fair.

Reducing Your Health Insurance Premium

Faculty and staff members who enroll in one of the University’s medical insurance plans will be eligible to receive a $50 reduction every month—an annual savings of $600 for the 2019 plan year. In order to receive the financial savings benefit, employees and covered spouses or legally domiciled adults (LDA) will be required to participate in the wellness screening and complete the Health Power Assessment. You and your covered spouse/LDA must complete the biometric screening by December 7, 2018.

Wellness Biometric Screenings and Health Power Assessment

Employees and covered spouses/LDAs will have the option to have their biometric screenings completed in one of three ways: on-campus, off-site, or by submitting biometric screening results taken in 2018 by your own doctor or a certified facility. To schedule a screening appointment on-campus or off-site, or to submit results from earlier this year, please visit the Human Resources website for more details. On-campus biometric screening dates are:
  • September 26: Damen Student Center, MPR North, 7:30 a.m.–12 p.m. (Lake Shore Campus)
  • September 27: Lewis Towers, Regents Hall, 7:30 a.m.–12 p.m. (Water Tower Campus)
Health Maintenance Institute
To complete the Health Power Assessment, you and your spouse/LDA will need to each create your own account on the Health Maintenance Institute website using site code L773. Please note: Returning users are not required to create a new account; please use your existing Health Maintenance Institute credentials to access your account. If necessary, there is an option to recover your account information.

Free Flu Shots

In September, medical professionals will be available to administer free flu shots at the Lake Shore Campus and Water Tower Campus:
  • September 26: Damen Student Center, MPR North, 7:30 a.m.–12 p.m. (Lake Shore Campus)
  • September 27: Lewis Towers, Regents Hall, 7:30 a.m.–12 p.m. (Water Tower Campus)
Note: Flu shots are required at the Health Sciences Campus. Additional details regarding access to on-campus vaccinations will be available soon.

Harassment Prevention Compliance Training

The University’s Harassment Prevention Training training opened on August 6 for staff. The course will be available for faculty September 17–October 12. Faculty will receive an invitation to complete the training in the near future. As a friendly reminder, completion of this compliance training is required for all faculty and staff, and it is central to our efforts to ensure faculty and staff have the opportunity to work in a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus community.

NEW—Business Skills Training

As we enter a new academic year, Human Resources encourages faculty and staff to take time to review free professional development courses available online through Skillsoft. Approximately 200 on-demand courses are designed to help you refresh and/or expand your business skills and knowledge. In addition, Skillsoft courses are available for review on mobile devices. Once the app is downloaded via the Apple or Google Play store, you can use your Loyola username and password to access training materials.
EMERGE—Professional and Personal Development
Space is still available for EMERGE classes this month. The program offers personal, professional, and wellness seminars. Whether you are in a leadership role or are a member of a team, you will find a program in which you can increase your knowledge and strengthen your skills. Wolves and Cubs Unite on September 27
Join us as we show our school pride at the Loyola University Chicago night at Wrigley Field on Thursday, September at 7:05 p.m. Purchase your reduced priced tickets to watch the Cubs take on the Pittsburgh Pirates and receive a commemorative Cubs hat in Loyola University Chicago colors. Rally your coworkers to go to a great event that benefits our undergraduate scholarship program. Get your tickets before they are sold out!
