Thanksgiving Initiatives

Dear Loyola HSC Community,

As autumn continues to share her brilliant colors and splendor, we receive our annual reminder that a season of giving, and of giving thanks, is just around the corner.

For our Loyola Health Sciences Campus, that means a coordinated effort to support individuals and families in Maywood and the surrounding Proviso community through collective contributions to the Quinn Center’s Annual Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive. The Quinn Center offers year-round, comprehensive services, programs, and resources to hundreds of local families. They are a valued partner in our shared mission of holistic health and healing in our community.

How are we asked to help?

By connecting with your department, colleagues, student organizations, course small groups, friends, or family to discuss how you will contribute.

  • Volunteer:
Individually or with a group – at the Quinn Center to support the Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive. Please sign up here! Volunteers are needed most days from Nov. 6 – Nov. 23.
  • Donate gift cards:
    • *These help families buy a Thanksgiving turkey or other perishable foods at a local grocery store.
    • *Quinn requests $10 gift cards for Jewel, Target, Walmart, Tony’s, or Aldi, only please! Buying in this specific denomination and for these stores greatly helps their coordination.
    • *You can drop-off gift cards in HSC Ministry, Cuneo/SSOM Room 270, with a staff member or in the locked box anytime before Wednesday 11/16 OR at LUMC North Doors Office 1381 between 8am-4pm before Wednesday 11/16.
  • Donate food items:
Please see the list of needed items attached or contribute via the Amazon Wish List.
All food donations should be delivered directly to Quinn (see directions below).
  • Donate financially:
Online donations can be made here.

Final notes:

  • If someone you know is in need of food or help this Thanksgiving, please see Quinn’s program here.
  • Quinn’s deadline for donations – of food, gift cards, or monetary donations – is due no later than Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7PM! This greatly helps them plan and ensure everyone in need can be served.

Thank you for all of your past and ongoing support of our neighbors and community! Please share with HSC Ministry how you and your department/classmates/colleagues plan to support Quinn this year.
