Scanning
Epson scanners are available for use by Students, Staff, and Faculty in the following locations:
- Information Commons 2nd Floor (iMacs on north side are connected to scanners, see DMS Print & Design Advisor at 2nd floor service desk for assistance)
- Mundelein 703, 706, and 709
- Corboy Law Center 608
Alumni and Guests can use the scanning function on the Ricoh copiers in the following locations:
- Information Commons 2nd Floor
- Corboy Law Center 6th Floor Lewis Library
These Ricoh copiers are not supported by Digital Media Services. Please contact a library staff member for assistance.
There are two programs that allow scanning: Adobe Acrobat Pro and EPSON Scan. Adobe Acrobat Pro is recommended for scanning documents while EPSON Scan is recommended for scanning images. See instructions below.
Scanning Using Adobe Acrobat
Using Spotlight Search (Command + Space) on the connected iMac, open "Adobe Acrobat Pro" | |
Wait to be prompted to sign into Adobe Creative Cloud and sign in by first typing in your UVID@luc.edu address, this should then redirect you to a Loyola Single-Sign On window | |
Sign in using your UVID and password on the Single-Sign On Page | |
Now, you should have full access to Adobe Acrobat Pro's functionalities | |
In the top menu, go to File > Create > PDF from Scanner | |
Select scanner "EPSON Perfect V600 (ICA)" from the drop-down menu. On this screen, you can also further customize your scanned document with options for quality, scanning multiple pages, and OCR. | |
Loan your material on the scanner and click "Scan" | |
Double-click "EPSON Perfect V600" under "Devices" and click "Scan" | |
Rearrange pages and make edits as necessary in your scanned document on Adobe Acrobat PDF | |
When you are ready to save your finished scanned document, go to File > Save As... Now, you can send or print the document from your saved location. | |
Don't forget to take your original document from the scanner when you're done! |
Scanning in Full Auto Mode (EPSON Scan)
Locate the Epson Scan application (for Macs use the spotlight search, for PCs search in the start menu.) | ![]() |
If a pop up appears asking if you want to use the scanner with TWAIN, select "Yes" | ![]() |
Click the "Scan", your image will scan and save to a file. | ![]() |
Multi-Page Scanning
Locate the Epson Scan application (for Macs use the spotlight search, for PCs search in the start menu.) | ![]() |
If a pop up appears asking if you want to use the scanner with TWAIN, select "Yes" | ![]() |
Change the mode to "Home" | ![]() |
Set the document type to "Magazine" | ![]() |
Click the folder icon in the bottom right corner. Change the Image Format Type to PDF, then click "OK" | ![]() |
Click "Preview" to begin the scan. | ![]() |
After previewing hit "Scan" and then "OK" to begin scanning. | ![]() |
After scanning the first page a dialog box will appear, select "Add Page" to scan an additional page into the same document. | ![]() |
When you have scanned all your pages select "Save File" |
