Equipment for Extended Loan

Equipment Pickups for Summer Session A

The following equipment will be available for extended loan in support of continuity for online teaching, course attendance, and remote work. Equipment Loan eligibility for the summer will be limited to students active in summer session courses, faculty actively teaching over the summer, and University employees continuing work. Please be aware these resources are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All equipment will have a scheduled return time of Thursday, July 2nd to enable usage across Summer Session A. Digital Media Services will be send follow-up communications the week of June 15th as we evaluate University messaging for consideration on renewals/return updates for those continuing into Summer Session B.

Digital Media Services will operate out of Granada Center (LSC) for "curb side pickup" by-appointment-only, Mon-Fri 10am-4pm. Please email digitalmediaservices@luc.edu with requested equipment from the list below order to coordinate a pickup date and time.

Lenovo Thinkpad Multiple Models (PC)

Digital Media Services primarily circulates the Lenovo T460 model PC laptop that features a Dual-Core i5 2.4GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive and a 14-inch IPS Full HD Display. We have several other similar models as provided by Information Technology Services. These have been reconfigured to enable documents or files saved to not be deleted upon reboot. Other software applications may be installed, if prompted for an administrative password, enter the password associated with the user logged into the workstation.

Other Notes

  • Lenovo T420 and T430 physical wireless switch. These models have a physical switch on the side to turn wireless on/off. Upon circulation, we verify these are enabled - but if you experience issues connecting to wireless, be sure to check the side for a switch with a wireless icon (green beneath the switch should be visible).
  • Are you a student? GlobalProtect access is not required to use the workstation.
Recommendations
for Purchase

Digital Media Services recommend Lenovo brand laptops first, however other brands like Microsoft Surface or common manufacturers (Apple, Dell, HP) are suitable as well for common web application and word processing activities - be sure to verify the laptop has an on-board webcam/mic. Equipment Returns

Students and Faculty with no summer courses: For students and faculty completing the spring term and with no teaching/attendance in summer courses, your equipment is due back Monday, May 4th by 4pm. Returns can be made up through Friday, May 8th by 4pm will have late fines waived, providing all items returned in-full and satisfactory condition. Our satellite loan location will be open and available to receive equipment:

Return Location: Granada Center (LSC), located at 6439 N Sheridan Rd.
Hours: Monday through Friday - 10am-4pm.

If one of our staff members are not present in the lobby to receive your equipment immediately, please call the number listed at the Granada entrance doors. We will have measures in place for ease of contactless return. We will take additional steps to thoroughly clean and sanitize returned resources as recommended by the CDC and our equipment manufacturers. Equipment that is still outstanding after Friday, May 8th will be subject to late fines and follow thereafter.

We understand these are unique times and will note that returns can be made on-your-behalf, if you have an available family member, housemate, or colleague able to pick-up and return equipment for you, this is also permissible. Before your return, be sure to verify all items, accessories and cases are included at the time of your return.

Students, Faculty and Staff continuing courses/work into the summer: For those continuing work/coursework into the summer, your equipment will be renew/extended with a due date of Thursday, July 2nd by 4pm. This timeframe will enable your usage through the full Summer Session A term. For those continuing work or courses into Summer Session B, we will provide updates during the week of June 15th as we’ll look to University communications by that time to help inform considerations toward renewals/returns.
