Education Immersion Weekends
To enhance the online learning experience, Loyola hosts Education Immersion Weekends (EIWs) several times each year. EIWs offer programming to reinforce learning objectives, provide a venue for networking, and foster communication among students, alumni, and faculty. WHAT TO EXPECT: THE EIW STUDENT EXPERIENCE
All students enrolled in the online MJ and LLM degree programs must attend two EIWs during their online studies: at least one by the completion of their fourth term of the program or before they enroll in their first term of the thesis course. The other EIW can be attended at a time of their choosing. Students may wish to attend early in the program to meet faculty and other students or at the conclusion of the program to participate in commencement festivities. Students are welcome to attend more than the two mandatory EIW weekends.
During each EIW, students participate in live presentations by faculty and other national experts, receive career and professional development training, and network with other students, faculty and administrators. During their pre-thesis EIW experience, students will workshop their thesis topics with faculty and fellow students.
THESIS TOPIC WORKSHOP
Part of the EIW experience involves thesis preparation. During the EIW, students should plan to participate in the thesis topic workshop. Participants will prepare a thesis topic questionnaire before the EIW and then will discuss their thesis topic with fellow students and faculty in a casual, classroom setting during the EIW. During the presentation, students will briefly describe their thesis topic, why they have selected it, and any discuss questions they have about refining their topic or locating research resources. Instructions for completing a thesis topic questionnaire will be sent prior to each EIW. The current thesis workshop questionnaire can be found here.
PLANNING YOUR VISIT TO LOYOLA
Prior to each EIW, students should check their Loyola email for announcements about the weekend, including an agenda and instructions for RSVPs. Questions about upcoming EIWs should be directed to HLBLStudentAdvising@luc.edu
Students are responsible for their own travel costs and arrangements. Everything you need to know about traveling to the Water Tower Campus, local hotels, etc. can be found in Loyola's Water Tower Campus Guide. Please also review the details in the registration link of your selected EIW for information about hotel rates and the event agenda.
