Melizsa Mugyenyi

Melizsa is an international development practitioner with a thematic focus in the governance and rule of law sectors, and geographic interest in East Africa. She holds a Masters in Law, Development and Globalisation from the School of Oriental and African Studies, (University of London) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Politics from the University of Sheffield. Melizsa is currently based at the Rome Headquarters of the International Development Law Organization where she works as Project Officer – Kenya, Governance and Peacebuilding Programs. Prior to this, she managed the East Africa portfolio for a London based NGO with a focus on legal empowerment for indigenous communities. Melizsa has worked with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Nairobi, where she was responsible for the coordination of its support to the Committee of Experts on Constitution Review among other governance reform initiatives. Outside of international development, Melizsa has applied her East Africa regional knowledge in the corporate context to conduct political and violence risk analysis and due diligence for a number of commercial intelligence firms.
