Sarah E. Toney (JD ‘03)
Sarah E. Toney (JD ‘03) was recently named the 2014 Young Lawyer of the Year Award (Chicago) by the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA). She is currently the owner of the Toney Law Firm, LLC, where she concentrates her practice in the areas of criminal and DUI defense. She also serves as a member of Loyola University Chicago’s adjunct law faculty, where she teaches courses in Legal Writing and Advanced Writing for Criminal Law. Toney has been named an Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Star for the past 5 years and is a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Lawyers. She has earned the designation of “American Chemical Society Forensic Drug and Alcohol Lawyer Specialist” from the American Chemical Society based on her completion of lab courses in gas chromatography. Ms. Toney has been invited to speak by the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Illinois State Bar Association at various seminars. She also serves on the board of directors for the national DUI Defense Lawyers Association, and sits on the Member Events and the Health Benefits and Wellness Committees of the Union League Club. She served as chair of the Traffic Laws and Courts Section Council for ISBA since 2008. She is also a member of the National College for DUI Defense and the Women’s Criminal Defense Bar Association.
