As we wrap up the semester and begin to prepare for final exams, we wanted to share some upcoming events/resources that aim to promote wellness.

ABA Program The Civil Rights Lawyer: Staying Well While Doing Good

There are so many ways to work to advance civil rights and social justice, and the time could not be more opportune to explore pathways into the profession of the civil rights lawyer. This four-part series provides insights and perspectives about pursuing a career in the realm of civil rights law. The third installment will feature strategies and lessons learned for balancing health and wellness while advocating for civil rights and social justice.

About Shannon
Shannon is a Counselor in Training seeking her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University (expected completion in 2021). Following 15 years as a practicing lawyer, Shannon became a certified professional coach working with lawyers and other professionals to help them thrive in life and in law. Joining the attorney development and well-being teams at a national firm, Shannon has coached adults seeking guidance in stress management, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship conflict, women's and men's issues, and workplace concerns. These experiences have in turn led Shannon to develop firmwide leadership and well-being programs in Resilience, Psychological Capital, Growth Mindset, GRIT and Inner Critic work.

Shannon's approach to therapy

Shannon's approach is truly person-centered with a philosophy founded on integrity, balance, authenticity and inquisitiveness. Utilizing mindfulness, inquiry and a strength and values-based approach, Shannon believes in providing a safe, respectful, and encouraging space to explore life's challenges with her clients.

With her warm, empathetic, positive and humorous style, Shannon hopes to inspire trust and confidence in her clients, helping them reach their fullest potential in whatever area that may be, achieving and enhancing their well-being one session at a time.
