Katelin is currently an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois in the civil appeals division. She writes appellate briefs and gives oral arguments before the Illinois Appellate Courts, Illinois Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit on behalf of the State and its employees.  Before she was an AAG she worked as a federal staff law clerk at the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals where she wrote for the judges of the Seventh Circuit. She served in the office's habeas corpus unit where she worked on documents relating to requests for certificates of appealability for habeas corpus petitions from state and federal prisoners. During law school, Katelin interned with the United States Department of Justice in the appellate section of the Office of Immigration Litigation, was a law clerk at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and served as judicial intern for the Arlington Immigration in the Executive Office of Immigration Review. During her 3L year she participated in GW Law’s Federal, Criminal, and Appellate Clinic where she represented indigent criminal defendants in their direct appeals before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.
