About
Jean Godfrey is an Assistant Regional Counsel for the Social Security Administration, Office of General Counsel, where she defends the denial of disability benefits in federal district and appellate courts. Previously, she worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals Division for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, where she defended criminal convictions on direct appeal before the Illinois Supreme Court. In addition, she defended against habeas corpus petitions collaterally challenging convictions in the federal district courts and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Following law school, Jean worked as a staff attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, Virginia. During law school, she was a Lead Articles Editor for the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal, a tutor for Contracts and Civil Procedure, and an extern for Judge Ronald A. Guzman in the Northern District of Illinois.
