Elizabeth is an Assistant Regional Counsel for U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In that position, Elizabeth provides legal advice and litigation services to agencies within the Department, particularly the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Office for Civil Rights. The subject matter of Elizabeth’s work ranges widely and includes health care law, employment law, and bankruptcy and receivership law, which arise in both administrative fora and federal and state courts throughout the Midwest.
Previously Elizabeth was an Assistant Attorney General for the Special Litigation Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, where she conducted complex investigations and litigated high-profile enforcement actions against public officials. Before becoming an Assistant Attorney General, Elizabeth clerked for the Staff Attorney’s Office of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Elizabeth worked with each of the appellate judges and assisted them by drafting bench memoranda and orders, attending oral arguments and judicial conferences, and recommending votes on appellate motions.
