Kristin A. Leasia
Title/s: Junior Counsel, Komatsu
Kristin currently serves as Junior Counsel for Komatsu, where she provides general in-house legal guidance on a variety of issues. Previously, Kristin served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois, practicing in the Workers’ Compensation Bureau. In that role, she represented the government’s interests in workers’ compensation cases filed by state employees and provided guidance regarding compliance with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation. Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office, Kristin served as an attorney for the City of Chicago, litigating violations of the Municipal Ordinance. While in law school, Kristin interned for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York; the U.S. Solicitor General’s Office in Washington, DC; Chicago Board of Education; and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Kristin served on Northwestern’s Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, and participated in the Northwestern Bluhm Legal Clinic’s Supreme Court Advocacy program. An article she co-wrote regarding legal developments at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia during the year 2011 was published by Northwestern’s Journal of Human Rights in 2013.
