Sharmi Mahajan teaches the Master of Jurisprudence Thesis course and the Introduction to Legal Systems and Writing classes for Loyola’s Online MJ Program. Her legal expertise includes physician regulation, corporate health compliance, HIPAA and Medicaid and Medicare billing. Sharmi was a Senior Health Policy Analyst for the American College of Chest physicians where she managed two physician committees dealing with government affairs and regulation. Prior to working at the American College of Chest Physicians, she worked in Legal and Compliance Departments for Primesource Healthcare, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and Fortress Insurance Company.
Sharmi obtained her LLM in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. As a Health Law and Policy Research Fellow, she researched Medicaid, Medicare and other safety net financing strategies for hospitals. Sharmi also possesses an MPH from Yale University where she concentrated her studies in Health Policy and Administration.
