Peter L. Apostol
Title/s: Professional Responsibility Counsel, Schiff Hardin LLP
Peter L. Apostol is employed as Professional Responsibility Counsel at Schiff Hardin LLP, where he identifies and resolves conflicts of interest arising from new business and lateral hire intake, and counsels Schiff attorneys on the Rules of Professional Conduct, risk management issues and firm policies. Previously, Peter served as Senior Litigation Counsel at the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois, where he conducted several hundred attorney disciplinary investigations and prosecuted more than 50 cases before the ARDC Hearing Board, including matters involving conflicts of interest, criminal conduct, and misappropriation of client funds. He has given presentations on professional responsibility issues to the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Practising Law Institute, and Chicago-area law schools. He served as the Vice-Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Professional Responsibility Committee between 2015 and 2016. Peter graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.A. in Political Science in 2003, and received his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2006. While attending law school, he worked as a law clerk at the ARDC and as a judicial extern for Judge Charles P. Kocoras, then the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Peter is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois.
