Elected in November 2010, Kelly Burke is serving her third term as state Representative of the 36th District.
Prior to becoming a representative, Burke was elected to two terms on the Evergreen Park Library Board and served as president of the board for five years. From 2006 to 2011, Burke served on the staff of Saint Xavier University as part a team that raised funds for many university programs, improvements, and scholarships.
Prior to joining Saint Xavier University, Burke practiced law for 14 years, focusing on insurance defense and family law. Burke also served as a law clerk to two circuit court judges and was a legislative aide to former State Representative Andrew J. McGann. In 2012 Burke was selected to participate in the inaugural class of the Edgar Fellows program at the University of Illinois, an initiative to promote responsible, responsive, bi-partisan leadership throughout Illinois.
Kelly received her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her J.D.from the John Marshall Law School. The district she represents in the legislature includes Evergreen Park, Oak Lawn, Chicago Ridge, Worth, Palos Hills, Palos Park, and Willow Springs as well as the Beverly, Mount Greenwood, Auburn Gresham and Wrightwood neighborhoods of Chicago.
