Thayer J. Herte has been a trust and tax professional with J.P.Morgan (and its predecessor organizations) for nearly 22 years. Thayer currently holds the position of Managing Director/Regional Fiduciary Executive for the Midwest Region of the Private Wealth Managment Division of J.P.Morgan. Her primary responsibilities as Regional Fiduciary Executive include providing oversight for fiduciary risk management, and advice and counsel on all fiduciary matters to the Regional Director, Market Managers, Trust Advisors and other front-office advisors. Prior to assuming her current responsibilities, Thayer held the position of Trust Officer and managed large, complex trust relationships.

Prior to joining the Private Wealth Management, Thayer was a Senior Tax Attorney in the Bank's Corporate Tax Department. Her primary responsibilities in this position included negotiating with the IRS to settle tax issues that were raised during audit, and drafting the Tax Court Petition for issues for which a settlement could not be reached. Prior to joining J.P.Morgan, Thayer was a Senior Tax Specialist for a major public accounting firm in Chicago.

Thayer earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University Chicago, her MBA degree from Roosevelt University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Psychology from Northwestern University. To maintain the skills required to effectively meet the financial needs of her clients, Thayer completed the requirements as set forth by the Institute of Certified Bankers and received the designation of Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. Thayer has also been an instructor for the J.P.Morgan Private Wealth Management Trust Schools in the areas of Basic Trust Administration and Advanced Trust Administration.

Thayer was recently appointed to the Illinois State Bar Association Committee of Trust and Estates. Thayer was also recently selected to be on the Board of Visitors for the School of Education and Social Policy of Northwestern University. Thayer is also a member of the Corporate Fiduciaries of Chicago, The Chicago Estate Planning Council, The Chicago Bar Association, and The Black Women Lawyer's Association. Thayer has also been instrumental in co-spearheading the Private Wealth Management Diversity Initiative for the Chicago metropolitan area and is also a member of J.P.Morgan's Diversity Council. Thayer was an active member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Planned Giving Advisory Council for 7 years. Thayer is also a volunteer for the Trinity Higher Education Corporation (THEC). THEC is a non-profit corporation that strives to promote, support, and facilitate the pursuit of higher education among the underserved and under-represented communities within the Chicago metropolitan area.
