Dean Yellen named president of Marist College

Dear Students:

It is with mixed emotions that I write to inform you that after serving eleven years as dean at Loyola’s law school, I will be leaving at the end of the academic year to become the president of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

My experience serving as dean of this outstanding school since 2005 has exceeded my most optimistic expectations. When I try to describe Loyola to other deans and colleagues, I know it sounds almost too good to be true. Over the past decade, I have been continually inspired and humbled by the remarkable work of our students, staff, faculty, and alumni. I will always be grateful for my time as a member of this wonderful community.

I am delighted to announce that Interim Provost Patrick Boyle has appointed Michael Kaufman, associate dean of academic affairs, as interim dean. I cannot think of anyone more qualified for this position, or more passionate about this law school. I am confident that under Dean Kaufman’s leadership, the School of Law will continue to thrive with a renewed sense of energy and vision. Dean Kaufman will assume this new role effective July 1, 2016.
