Faculty appointment John Blum

John Blum named school’s first health law chair

John Blum is the inaugural holder of Loyola University Chicago's Beazley Chair in Health Law and Policy. The prestigious endowed chair was established to honor the late Bernard and Kathleen Beazley who were staunch supporters of access to health care and longtime friends to Loyola's School of Law.

Nationally recognized expert

Blum is a pioneer and widely respected expert in health law. As the founding director of Loyola's nationally recognized Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy, he launched four specialized health law degree programs at Loyola. He also expanded the school’s health law curricular offerings and has himself taught numerous health law and policy courses, including Government Health Policy, Long Term Care Law, and Public Health Law. Blum has also supervised more than 20 doctoral dissertations on an array of projects dealing with domestic and international health policy issues, and has served as an adjunct professor of medical humanities at Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine.

John Blum is a pioneer in health law who has led Loyola to national prominence in this ever-evolving and important field. We could not be more pleased to name him as our inaugural Beazley Chair in Health Law and Policy, which honors two of our school’s most dedicated supporters.
