Tonny is a senior risk & compliance manager at HSBC Bank USA, N.A., with a passion for risk management and innovation. Tonny has more than 15 years of experience in the field of risk management, working at top tier financial institutions across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Tonny started his career in technology, building the Group’s first operational risk management system, which subsequently was adopted across the enterprise, and was the infrastructure on which the Group’s non-financial risk programme has been built.

Subsequently, he has moved around the Group both geographically and across business lines / product groups in various risk related roles. Over the course of his career at multiple financial institutions, Tonny has held senior roles across nearly every discipline of non-financial risk (including Operational Risk, Business Continuity, Financial Crime & Physical security, Information Security, Reputational Risk and Third Party/Vendor Risk Management) across all banking lines of business.

Tonny has completed his Bachelors in Computer Science from Nova Southeastern University and an MBA from the University at Buffalo, with a focus on Asian Business and Finance. Tonny also has a keen interest in entrepreneurship and innovation, having left banking to start a family business in the Food & Beverage CPG category. Since that time, although he has rejoined the banking industry, he remains active in supporting entrepreneurship as a member of the Business Advisory Council at the Industrial Council of Near West Chicago (ICNC). Most recently, Tonny completed a role with HSBC’s Strategic Innovation Investments, an in-house corporate VC fund, and has been named an innovation champion for Risk and Compliance.
