Sandy Sanders

Maynard Jackson Sanders is a native of Mobile, Alabama and one of eight children of the marriage of Maynard Judson and LaVeral Donaghey Sanders.

He attended High School in Mobile at McGill Institute and received a Senatorial Nomination from John Sparkman to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York.  Upon graduation, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and attended the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

An Airborne and Ranger qualified Soldier, he commanded at the Company, Battalion and Brigade level.  As a Brigadier General, he served as the Deputy Commander for mobilization for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command in Fort Eustis, Virginia and as the Director of the Central Command Deployment Distribution Operations Center in Kuwait.  As a member of the Senior Executive Services he served as the Director of Defense Energy Supply Center at Fort Belvoir Virginia.  His last military assignment, he served as the Deputy G4 for US Army Reserve Component Integration, Army Headquarters in the Pentagon as a Major General.  He has a Masters Degree in Strategy from the United States Army War College and his military awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Legion of Merit Medal.

Prior to his selection as the Executive Director of the Plaquemines Port Harbor & Terminal District in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, he served as the Deputy Port Director for the Port of Corpus Christi Authority in Corpus Christi, Texas, directly responsible for Operations, Business Development and Communications.  Active in the community, he served on the Boards of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club and Chamber of Commerce.  He is the Past Chairman of the Board for South Texas USO.

He is married to Mary Francis (Fran) Molyneux and has three children; Sarah, a graduate of Auburn University, works for the Department of State in Washington, D.C.; Camille, a sophomore at Delgado College, New Orleans, studying to be an Army officer in the Nursing Corps; and Jackson, who is attending the University of New Orleans as a freshman.
