About

I am a long-time resident of Chicago's West Side, though originally from California.  I attended high school and community college in Flint, Michigan.  Afterward, I traveled extensively throughout the United States, working a wide variety of jobs.  After moving to Chicago, I earned an Associate's in Science from Malcolm X College and a Bachelor's in Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  My mathematical research interests are in the field of complex geometry -- specifically, the study of the monodromy of differential equations on Riemann surfaces -- though my first love, mathematically speaking, was analytic number theory.  As an educator, I place a high priority on equity in the classroom and curriculum development.  I believe that through a discourse on the subtleties of mathematical communication, the mathematics classroom can be transformed from a place to practice conformity to a place to practice liberation.
