Bartolini, Loretta
About
Dr. Bartolini received a B.Sc. (Hons) and Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Prior to joining the faculty at Loyola, she held a postdoctoral position at Oklahoma State University. Her research interests lie in 3-manifold geometry and topology, with a particular emphasis on non-orientable surfaces. The ability to conceptualize space is fundamental to topology, yet is also key to a range of professions from computer animation to fashion design. Unlike numeracy, however, discussion of spatial skills and abilities rarely expands beyond the boundaries of individual applications. Dr. Bartolini is interested in creating a dialog with members of other fields that have a visual or spatial aspect, aiming to explore the manifestation and quantification of such skills.
