About
After completing his undergraduate and Masters’ degrees in Italy, Dr. Petit obtained his Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in 2016, working with Vladimir Chernov. He then proceeded to teach at Oberlin College (2016-17), Oxford College of Emory University (2017-20), and Boston College (2020-23). He joined Loyola in 2023.
Trained as a combinatorial knot theorist, his main research interests lie in the realm of finite-type invariants for virtual knots, and specifically index polynomials. His recent interests include developing his own Python code to compute knot invariants, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and learning about knot homology theories.
