Expanding the Jesuit Higher Education Network: Collaborations for Social Justice

Dear Rector/President:

I am happy to announce that a website is now available to help us prepare for the 2015 Melbourne Conference on Jesuit Higher Education.

The Conference, once again, is July 8, 9, 10 in Melbourne, Australia. Our host institution will be the Catholic University of Australia. All Jesuit institutions of higher learning are invited to attend. You are also invited to bring one or two others from your institution who may be interested in one or more of the topics listed in the program. The program is posted under the Schedule tab. At this stage, the program is preliminary and will be finalized in the months ahead.

Shortly after the new year, those who need assistance to be able to attend may apply for financial support from a limited fund which is available to us for this purpose. Vouchers will be available to assist with either airfare or hotel expenses.

Feel free to let us know if you intend to attend by registering now. Registration will be open until April 1st, 2015.

As you will see from the agenda, we are building on Fr. General's call at the 2010 Mexico City summit for more collaboration and for leveraging of the network of Jesuit higher education institutions. This conference will explore our common social justice mission (day 1), examine several international Jesuit collaborations that are making an impact (day 2), and discuss future collaborations (day 3). The final sessions on the third day will be devoted to seeking your input on what we ought to be doing in the future.

I hope you make plans to attend this conference, and please plan to stay for the annual conference of the International Federation of Catholic Universities, to be held July 13-16, also at Australian Catholic University.

Until then….

Sincerely in the Lord,

Michael J. Garanzini, S.J.
