Mr. Matthew Boucher, Log Tech

Mr. Boucher was born in Muskegon, Michigan. He entered the United States Army in July 1996 as a Water Craft Operator (88K). He performed logistical support with water craft and tugboats using maps, charts, radar, and global positioning systems. He also supervised and trained crew in day-to-day operations and navigations of vessel, water survival, and safety and seamanship skills. He was selected for early promotion and obtained an E-5 level based on professionalism and technical expertise. He was recognized by the Department of the Army for his technical expertise and abilities within complex operations, and received an Honorable Discharge.

Mr. Boucher transitioned into Civil Service in the field of Material Handler at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Virginia. His duties included assisting in developing plans for storage and arrangement of stock in accordance with regulations. He also had to lay out storage space, establish item locations, determine organization and arrangement of stock, and identify high and low usage items according to agency regulations and procedures.

Outside of his work at Loyola, Mr. Boucher enjoys running along the beach with his 120 lbs. chocolate labrador, traveling, dinners, and helping others. He enjoys being new to the Chicago area and being part of the Army ROTC Rambler battalion.
