Captain Nathanial Goldsmith- Operations Officer, Assistant Professor of Military Science

Nate Goldsmith, his wife Brittanie and two children are newcomers to the Chicago area, and are excited to serve at the Rambler Battalion. CPT Goldsmith is originally from Charlottesville, VA and is a 2009 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). Upon graduation from VMI, CPT Goldsmith attended the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, GA, and was then assigned to 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. As a platoon leader, CPT Goldsmith deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2011 to 2012. Upon return from Afghanistan, CPT Goldsmith was accepted to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment “The Old Guard” at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, VA, where he served as a platoon leader for Alpha Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, as well as the platoon leader for the United States Army Drill Team.

In 2015, the Goldsmith family returned to Fort Benning, GA where CPT Goldsmith completed the Maneuver Captains Career Course, with subsequent assignment to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY. While assigned to the 101st Airborne, Nate deployed as a battalion planner to Iraq in 2016 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon return from Iraq, Nate commanded Attack Company, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team (STRIKE) for 16 months prior to assignment at Loyola University Chicago.
