Spiritual Direction

While St. Ignatius was firm in his conviction that God deals directly and uniquely with each person, many people find it helpful to sort through their experience with a trusted other. It is the role of the Spiritual Director to listen and accompany the individual on their journey and help them see or discern where God is present in their life. The goal of spiritual direction is to deepen one’s relationship with God by taking an intentional look at one’s spiritual life and looking for the movement of God.

Professionally trained guides (Jesuit or lay, men and women) are available anytime throughout the year to listen and to help notice and name underlying movements in one’s life.

“The director’s role is that of being a helper to us” (St. Ignatius of Loyola, The Spiritual Exercises, Annotation #2).
