As well as become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and daily experiences. When you communicate with others, you use different approaches and expressions that will impact them in many ways/, and this examen wants to deepen your awareness of the power of language in your life and interactions.
Phrases like “I Love you”, • "You have such a positive energy." • "It seems like you don’t care about me." • "I’m here for you if you need to talk about anything." • "I feel like you’re not taking your responsibilities seriously." • "yeah! Whatever." Have an impact in everyone, so let’s use this time to think about the way you communicate with others.
As we begin this examen, I invite you to take a moment to center yourself/; perhaps you need to find a quiet space/. Find a comfortable position, take a deep breath, and let go of the distractions of the day. Maybe you want to journal or have more time to think. If that is the case, feel free to pause the recording. This is a time to connect with your inner thoughts and feelings, creating a space for genuine introspection. By grounding yourself in the present moment, you can open your heart and mind to new insights and understanding. Let’s embrace this opportunity to reflect deeply and authentically in the way you communicate with others. Again, take a deep breath and let go.
I want to invite you to take a minute and remember your experiences with language today. Remember on the ways language has enriched your life today. What conversations brought you joy or insight? How did you use language to connect with others? Recall how many people you impact today while they interact with you. Thankfulness can enhance your awareness.
Pause for a minute…
Now that you have remember those interactions or maybe it is just one moment of the day that was significant for you. I want to invite you to reflect on how your use of language had an impact on others or yourself. What words did you choose in conversations? Were they positive, negative, supportive, or critical? Did they align with your values? Did your words promote kindness, understanding, and respect? Or on the contrary, discourage or hurt someone? How can you improve your communication to reflect these values more fully? Also, recall instances where you listened to others. How did their language resonate with you? Did you feel understood or challenged by their choice of words? Let’s have a minute to think about it…
Pause for a minute…
After reflecting on your interactions, I invite you to take a time to identify any moments where you could have chosen your words differently. What would you change, and how can you apply
this insight in the future? Identify specific intentions for using language more positively. Perhaps you want to practice active listening, have more empathy, be more intentional in your responses, or use language to uplift those around you and yourself. Have a moment to think about the use of your language in the future…
Pause for a minute…
As we conclude this examen, I invite you once again to take a deep breath and allow yourself to be fully present. Acknowledge the insights you've gained and the feelings that have surfaced. Let these thoughts settle within you, carrying their wisdom into your daily communication. End with a prayer for guidance in your use of language, asking for wisdom in your interactions and the ability to express yourself in ways that foster connection and understanding. Ask for guidance to communicate with compassion and clarity.
