2022 MMLA Convention Health Protocols
The MMLA is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all members attending its annual convention in Minneapolois, Minnesota. To that end, we are instituting the following expectations, protocols, and guidelines for the event:
What Convention Participants Can Expect Of MMLA Staff At Check-In:
-Staff will be fully vaccinated and will be wearing masks.
-Check-in will be nearly contactless; the name badge will be the only item changing hands since the program book is available for electronic download (although hard copies of the program book will be available at check-in for those who would like to receive one).
-The registration desk will have hand sanitizer available, will be cleaned regularly by the hotel staff, and will have spare masks available in case members lose their own. Note: our supply of spare masks is limited, so please bring enough clean masks to last you throughout your stay.
-Those in line for registration will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing as they wait their turn to register.
What MMLA Staff Expects Of All Convention Participants At Check-In:
-At the time of checking in, participants must provide either proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (by presenting a COVID-19 vaccination card) or documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result from a test administered to them no more than 72 hours prior to their checking in. Note: we will not be offering COVID-19 testing on site. A government-issued ID must accompany either the vaccination card or the negative test result. For your convenience, we will accept a digital photo on your mobile phone of your COVID-19 vaccination card or your documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result.
Expectations For All Participants and Staff During the Convention:
-By attending the MMLA Convention, you acknowledge that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public space where people gather.
-Participants will practice social distancing in meeting rooms and in hallways, lobby areas, and elevators, regardless of their vaccination status.
-Masks are required indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
-Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
-Comply with CDC guidelines, state and local ordinances, and hotel policies.
-Don’t attend if you become ill, and either self-isolate or leave the convention if you learn of a positive test result or begin to feel the relevant symptoms of COVID-19, which the CDC identifies as the following:
- Fever or chills
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or body aches
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
Expectations For the convention:
-Meeting room seating layout will be consistent with social distancing practices.
-Meeting space sanitation procedures will comply with the hotel's policies
These guidelines are subject to change as necessary in response to evolving circumstances.
