Michael Scott McBride is an internationally-performed composer, a performer, a conductor, and an educator. A frequently-seen Chicago-area musician, he has performed all around the US, and his music has been heard on international broadcasts such as BBC Radio and LA Talk Radio's "On Air With Tony Sweet." He has enjoyed music directing with Loyola University, the Chicago Cabaret Project, and Street Tempo Theater. He has also been featured in Chicago's Windy City Times and his freshman EP, Almost There, was well-received by the Times' writer, David Byrne. Dr. McBride has lead music at conferences in Los Angeles and Phoenix and directs a church rock band and choir weekly in Chicago. He has been a professional church music director since 2002.
Having studied with Augusta Read Thomas, Jay Alan Yim, and Jason Eckardt, he was a lecturer in the Theory/Cognition program. He has also taught at Elmhurst College and has worked full-time as Adjunct Professor of Music at North Park University since 2006. The summer of 2010 marked the seventh year he served as the coordinator of the composition program for the National High School Music Institute at NU.

He had the honor of playing Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto (1st movt.) with the Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra and of being the principal student conductor of the WCSO, the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation, and the American Music Center.
