Niehoff Celebrates Graduates at Honors, Pinning, and Dedication Ceremony

Faculty, friends, and family gathered along with alums to celebrate ABSN and Hybrid ABSN program graduates at their Honors, Pinning, and Dedication Ceremony at the Health Sciences Campus last week. The ceremony welcomes newly-graduated nurses into the nursing profession. During the ceremony, each graduate takes “The Nightingale Pledge,” which will help guide them throughout their nursing career. As Niehoff Dean and Professor Lorna Finnegan, PhD, RN, FNP, FAAN commented during her remarks, “I want to emphasize that this day marks your transition. Remember that your transition to “nursing student” did not happen overnight.  And your transition to leaders in the nursing profession will not happen overnight either. You will continue to learn – as you work in hospitals, clinics, and other health care organizations.

Loyola University Chicago’s Ignatian heritage will continue to guide you.  It is a rich heritage of faith, seeking God in everyday life; a profound commitment to the poor and to issues of social responsibility, and justice.  Ignatius believed that it is imperative to act upon what is learned -- to use our values in service to humanity. We are called to make a difference as “persons for others.”‌  View photos from the event.
