Graduate Nursing Student Wins National Scholarship
The Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing would like to congratulate graduate student Kendra Calawerts for receiving the highly competitive CastleBranch Graduate Nursing Student Academy (GNSA) Scholarship for 2019.
The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) awards the scholarship to two GNSA members each year, who are advancing the nursing profession through a commitment to innovation, leadership, and mentoring.
Calawerts is working toward getting her MSN in Nursing and Healthcare Administration with the goal of using the advanced degree to help her move into a leadership position.
“I would love to take on leadership roles both in the clinical and academic settings that focus on professional development of nursing leaders,” said Calawerts. “If I'm being challenged and making a positive impact on patient care, I'll be happy!”
Calawerts currently works as a patient care manager at Northwestern Medicine. She also received her BSN from Loyola University Chicago.
