Jenny O'Rourke, PhD, APRN is currently an tenure track assistant professor. She received her PhD in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago(UIC) in 2012 and served as an assistant clinical professor and Director of Simulation at the University of Illinois Chicago prior to coming to Loyola. Her teaching and scholarship interests include Nursing Education and Simulation. Since 2017, she has been the principal investigator for a Health Research and Services Administration grant totaling more than 4.3 million in funding. She is an active member of several nursing and simulation organizations including the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties,  International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation in Learning and Society for Simulation in Healthcare. 

Research Interests

Teaching interests include graduate research, TeamSTEPPS, nursing leadership, and teaching practicum. Dr. O'Rourke's program of research focuses on nursing education curriculum and methods. One primary area is examining how simulation can be used to teach and evaluate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
